The President’s Center Circle – Marti Coan
At the PVYSC AGM (annual general Meeting) I was elected the new President of our club. New Board members also elected are Cathy Thompson as Secretary, Rhoda Sievert as Treasurer, Heather Remme, and Kevin Wasco as Directors At Large. We welcome them all and greatly appreciate their willingness to serve on our Board of directors.
I want to extend a sincere and heartfelt Thank You to outgoing President Jim Schmidt. His constant work for PVYSC can’t be matched. Jerry Hameister is our outgoing Treasurer and I thank him for his steady hand and cool head with our numbers. The time you both dedicated to PVYSC and soccer this past year is much appreciated by all of us who have benefited from your service. The club is proud to have people like you as members.
This past year we introduced the Festival style play for the U 5, U 6, and U 8 and U 10 age groups. We developed a curriculum based on age groups which was introduced to our volunteer coaches with a single Saturday training session. PVYSC is developing plans to improve and expand training for our coaches at all levels.
In our area, we are so fortunate to have an established club, excellent fields and great community support from all our sponsors. We would like PVYSC to help others around our country and the world by participating in the US Soccer Foundation‘s program called Pass Back. This program provides a means for soccer players to pass on gently used soccer items to other players not as fortunate as themselves. So clean your closets for those cleats that don’t fit and maybe that extra soccer ball. More information forth coming when and where you will find a bin. If you would like to help those less fortunate please contact me, many hands make light work!
Here is just a bit of back ground on your new President. This is my second stint on the PVYSC Board, having spent several years as club registrar in the past. I have coached PVYSC teams from U 8 to U 16, most recently as “master” coach for U 8 coed. I have also coached at the high school and college levels for around 15 years. I also served on the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) board of directors for 10 years. I hold a NSCAA National Coaching Diploma as well as an “F” and an “E” license from US Soccer that I earned back in the 80’s. I played coed and women’s outdoor and indoor soccer for almost 25 years in our local leagues. Soccer has provided many opportunities for me and my family. Making friends, entertainment and fun, travel, continuing education and a strong sense of community are just a few of the things I have experienced through my involvement in soccer . PVYSC opened the door for these opportunities. I hope to make sure that same door is open for all the members of our club. The Recreation Report - Carlton Sealock:

2010-2011 Classic League Tryouts Completed Thank you to all the players that participated in the June tryouts. We appreciated everyone’s patience as we worked through the escalated classic league tryout process this year. Thanks for the feedback and keep it coming. We are working to streamline the process for next year and hope to have the on-line registration and payment process functioning more efficiently. Following are the teams that were formed through the tryout process. Several of the teams are playing fall league. Please come out and cheer on the teams!

Referee Corner - Mike Jones: Thank you to all the referees as 2010 was another successful season. PVYSC assigns referees from U8's - U19's. PVYSC is also the only club to utilize 3 officials at the U10 level to call offside. This I believe is great not just for the players getting use to a new rule, but also for younger officials to work in a 3-referee system. Over 330 games were played this past spring / summer and only a handful of games had a missing referee and / or a complaint on the game. I thank everyone involved from the referees to the coaches to the players to the parents in making this work. The President’s Center Circle – Marti Coan
