President Update

The Neenah Park and Recreation Department has presented a new contract for consideration. The fees increase from $8,000 to $10,000. The contract is for 3 years. The fee shall be paid in full by February 1 of each year. Cathy Thompson will add this to the annual calendar. It was noted that the fee was not paid in 2010 and a review is taking place to see if it was paid in 2009. The City did not bill the club for the fee. The board will make payment and considers the contract to be reasonable.

The contract for Mahler is being reviewed at this time as well.

Carlton Sealock and Marti Coan attended the EC Recreation Committee meeting. There are proposed changes to the season start and end dates. The U-14 and younger ages may start May 7, 2012 and end July 19, 2012. For the in-house age groups, the board can determine the season start and end dates. The board will consider setting 1 Saturday in May and June for rain make-up dates. The season for some age groups was shortened due to the extremely wet spring.   Planning and scheduling in advance will allow for field and referee scheduling. We will await the final decision before opening up registration. The Jamboree format will be continued next year and the dates are set for June 23 and June 24 with the locate TBD.

Fall League schedules should be published by September 1, 2011.

Trish Zander and Marti Coan met with Jim Strick, Lisa Dohr and the Athletic Director at Neenah High School to discuss the collaborative relationship between the Neenah Soccer Club and NJSD. There will be a Neenah Soccer Club night this fall and in the spring for a Varsity Soccer game. The players wearing a Neenah Soccer Club jersey will receive free admission. The parents will need to pay. This is a family event. Children are not to be dropped off alone. Lars Nordang is coordinating the ball people for the Varsity Soccer games. They are in need of 6 players. These players should wear their Neenah Soccer Club jerseys and will receive free admission. Any teams interested should contact Lars directly.

Lori Sealock, Rhoda Sievert, Marti Coan and Trish Zander have begun work on the budget.

Carlton Sealock reported that all teams are registered for the 2011-2012 Classic season with the exception of the high school boys’ teams who are currently in season at the school, and the Dragons who have not determined whether or not they will field a team next year. All passes are either delivered to the teams, or at the EC Registrar for completion.

Trish Zander reported that the Neenah Soccer Club will attempt to have a Family Fun Night available at On the Fringe in Neenah before they close for the season. An e-mail blast and a website update will be the form of communication.

Trish Zander reported that Flatgrass dates have been set for May 11-13 2012. It was noted that this is Prom weekend in Neenah. The wrap-up for the 2011 tournament committee and the kick-off for the 2012 tournament committee will be held at the Ground Round on Wednesday August 23, 2011. All future meetings will be held at Baypoint on Green Bay Road.

Carlton Sealock and Randy Kuehl provided the update on the collaboration with the NJSD fall soccer program. All fields have corners marked except St. Gabs and Spring Road, which will be completed this week. We have loaned a set of nets to Clayton as theirs were destroyed in a recent storm. The school organization will stripe the fields for the season.

Carlton Sealock presented the registration plans for the 2012 Recreational League. As soon as we have final season dates, we will open registration. We will hold in person registration options at the library the week of October 18th. We will plan on having one volunteer at each school organize coverage of a table throughout the fall parent-teacher conferences with registration information as well as financial aid forms. We will send an e-mail blast with the notification of the registration dates and times.

Review of Calendar (standing item)
All tasks are up to date. Cathy Thompson will update calendar for distribution at the September board meeting.
