| The Rec Report: |
 |
Hello. I am Carlton Sealock, the PVYSC Recreational Director.
Recreational soccer will soon be upon us once again. We are preparing for a wonderful year. A number of you have voiced concerns and have raised questions regarding the recreational league. We have a committee that will be meeting on a regular basis until the new season kicks off to address these concerns. In each newsletter, I will be giving you, the members, some ideas of items that we are working to improve.
I value your feedback and comments as these will ensure that we make the soccer season fun and productive for your son or daughter. Please submit all comments, ideas, or concerns to our website and they will be routed to me and added to our list to be reviewed and addressed.

| Referees – The Technical Area |
Question - How do I become a soccer referee?
Answer - In order to become a soccer referee you will need to attend an entry level referee clinic.
All individuals aspiring to become referees will attend the 16 hour Grade 8 course.
Individuals 12 and 13 will be registered as Grade 9 Recreational Referees. Upon reaching 14 years old and completing the Recertification Requirements these individuals will be advanced to Grade 8.
All individuals will take the Grade 8 exam and are expected to obtain a grade of 75 for satisfactory completion.
Currently registered Grade 9’s will be required to attend an Upgrade Grade 9 to 8 Course when reaching 14 years old in order to advance to Grade 8. Should an Upgrade course not be available, current Grade 9’s will be required to attend the Grade 8 course.
You can find a list of clinics at: http://www.wisref.org/clinics/clinics.asp

2010 Tournament Set
Planning is underway for the 31st Annual Flatgrass Regional Showdown.
The date has been set – May 7-9, 2010.
In 2009, PVYSC hosted 172 teams.
In order for 2010 to be another successful tournament we are counting on you to help. We rely on the support of our volunteers.
Expectations are that each classic league team should provide 5 volunteers (4 for concessions & 1 for set-up or tear down). If you are able to help, please contact John Jackson, PVYSC’s volunteer coordinator
(e-mail: director5@pvysc.org). |
